Ghosts are the main enemy force in the DreadOut Franchise.

Description

Ghosts are the main enemy in the DreadOut Games. Ghosts in DreadOut are all based on Indonesian / Malay folklore, though there are some that are based on ghosts from other cultures or are made up for the story of DreadOut.

DreadOut

Ghosts are enemies that are encountered in most places where the storyline takes place - they can perform jumpscares or attack the player. Defeating them adds them to the Ghostpedia. As Linda gets near a ghost, the edges of the screen glow red.

Linda can combat them with the use of the IrisPhone and the SLR Camera. Taking pictures of the ghost or of their weak spot can defeat them, whcih will add them to the Ghostepedia which will reveal lore about them.

DreadOut 2

Like in the previous game, Ghosts and spirits once again return as the main enemy. Unlike the previous game, however, Linda now can combat them with weapons such as a knife or axe.

Ghosts are separated into two categories: intangible and physical. Intangible Ghosts can only be damaged by taking a picture of them with the IrisPhone and Physical Ghosts can only be damaged physically with a weapon or projectile. Both types of ghosts can be stunned with Flash Blitz on the IrisPhone after Linda learns it.
